Our Powder Coat Colour Range

We carry an extensive range of powder coating colours from leading manufacturers. Whether you need a standard black for a set of alloy wheels, a specific RAL colour for an architectural project, or a custom match for a one-off restoration — we can source it.

Our powder stocks come from trusted manufacturers including Dulux Duralloy and Interpon (AkzoNobel). These are professional-grade powder systems used across New Zealand's building and manufacturing industries. If you need a colour we don't have in stock, we can typically source it within a few working days.

Finish Types

The finish you choose affects both the look and performance of the coating. Here's what's available:

Gloss Finishes

High-shine, reflective finish. The most popular choice for automotive parts, wheels, furniture, and anything where you want a clean, polished look. Gloss black is our single most requested finish — it suits everything from bull bars to gates and fencing.

Matt & Satin Finishes

Low-sheen finishes that hide surface imperfections better than gloss. Satin black is extremely popular for automotive and 4WD accessories. Matt finishes give a modern, understated look that's become increasingly popular for architectural metalwork and furniture.

Textured Finishes

Wrinkle, hammer-tone, and sand textures add grip and hide minor surface blemishes. Textured finishes are practical for toolboxes, equipment housings, and items that see heavy use. They're also popular for outdoor furniture where a softer, more tactile surface is preferred.

Metallic & Pearl Finishes

Metallic flake and pearl-effect powders add depth and visual interest. Gunmetal, bronze, and silver metallic finishes are popular for wheels, motorcycle frames, and decorative metalwork. These finishes catch the light differently depending on the viewing angle.

Clear Coat

A transparent powder coat applied over bare metal or polished surfaces. Clear coat protects the natural appearance of aluminium, stainless steel, or polished metal while adding scratch and corrosion resistance. Often used on motorcycle parts and car restoration components.

Popular Colours

While we can coat in virtually any colour, these are the finishes our customers request most often:

  • Black — gloss, satin, and matt. By far our most popular colour across all applications
  • White — gloss and satin. Common for architectural metalwork, furniture, and commercial shopfittings
  • Grey — various shades from light silver to charcoal. Popular for modern architectural projects
  • Gunmetal — a dark metallic grey. Very popular for wheels and automotive parts
  • Bronze / Copper — metallic finishes for decorative and architectural metalwork
  • Colorsteel colours — Karaka, Ironsand, Ebony, Grey Friars, and other standard NZ roofing colours for flashings and building components

Colour Matching

Need a specific colour? We offer several ways to get an exact match:

  • RAL Codes: The international colour standard. Give us a RAL number and we'll source the matching powder
  • Resene Codes: We can match to Resene paint colours — useful when metalwork needs to match painted surfaces on the same project
  • Dulux Codes: Same as above for Dulux colour references
  • Colorsteel Colours: We match all standard Colorsteel roofing colours for flashings and building components
  • Physical Samples: Bring in a sample, a paint chip, or an existing part and we'll match as closely as possible

For more information on the RAL colour system, see our RAL colour chart guide.

Powder Systems We Use

We use professional-grade powder systems from established manufacturers:

  • Dulux Duralloy: A widely used NZ powder coating range with excellent UV stability and colour consistency. Available in a broad range of colours and finishes
  • Interpon (AkzoNobel): Premium architectural-grade powder coatings. Known for exceptional durability and colour retention, particularly in exterior applications

Both ranges are formulated for New Zealand conditions — high UV exposure, coastal salt spray, and variable humidity. The specific powder system recommended depends on your application and environment.

Dulux Powder Coating Ranges

Dulux is one of the most widely specified powder coating brands in New Zealand. Their range covers everything from general-purpose industrial applications to high-performance architectural systems.

Duralloy

Duralloy is Dulux's architectural-grade powder coating range, designed for exterior applications that demand long-term UV stability and colour retention. It is commonly specified on aluminium joinery, curtain wall systems, louvres, and other exposed building elements across New Zealand.

Duratec

Duratec is a general-purpose polyester powder coating range suitable for a broad range of interior and exterior applications. It offers good durability and is available in a wide selection of colours and finishes — a practical choice for furniture, fencing, gates, and general metalwork.

Alumi Shield

Alumi Shield is formulated specifically for aluminium substrates. It provides enhanced adhesion and corrosion protection on aluminium, making it a popular choice for window and door frames, aluminium balustrades, and other aluminium building components.

Interpon D Series

Interpon is manufactured by AkzoNobel and is one of the world's leading powder coating brands. The D Series is their core architectural and industrial range, used extensively in New Zealand and internationally.

Interpon D1000

The D1000 series is designed for interior applications where weather resistance is not a primary concern. It delivers excellent finish quality and colour consistency for indoor furniture, shopfittings, shelving, and internal architectural metalwork.

Interpon D2000

D2000 is a polyester-based range for standard exterior applications. It provides good UV and weather resistance and is suitable for general outdoor metalwork including fencing, gates, outdoor furniture, and building facades.

Interpon D3000

D3000 is Interpon's super-durable range, engineered for maximum weather resistance in harsh environments. It is specified for premium architectural projects, coastal installations, and any application where extended colour retention and corrosion resistance are critical.

Colorsteel Colour Matching

For builders, roofers, and homeowners, matching powder coated components to existing Colorsteel roofing is essential for a cohesive finish. We regularly match flashings, fascia, downpipes, and other building elements to standard Colorsteel colours.

Common Colorsteel colours we match include:

  • Karaka — a deep, rich green popular on rural and traditional homes
  • Ironsand — a warm, dark brown-black widely used across New Zealand
  • Ebony — a true black, popular for modern architectural projects
  • Grey Friars — a mid-tone grey that complements contemporary designs
  • Sandstone Grey — a lighter warm grey, popular in residential builds
  • Flax Pod — a warm, earthy brown
  • Scoria — a dark, reddish-brown
  • New Denim Blue — a classic blue popular on coastal properties

If your Colorsteel colour is not listed above, contact us with the colour name and we will source the matching powder. We can also match discontinued Colorsteel colours where possible.

Custom Colours & Small Batches

We're not limited to what's on the shelf. If you need a specific colour for a one-off project or a small run, we can source custom powders. This includes specialty colours, exact colour code matches, and non-standard finishes. Contact us with your colour requirements and we'll confirm availability and lead time.

Choosing the Right Colour & Finish

Not sure what to choose? Here are some practical guidelines:

  • Outdoor items — UV-stable colours from the Dulux Duralloy or Interpon range. Darker colours show less dirt but absorb more heat
  • Automotive & wheels — gloss or satin black, gunmetal metallic, or custom colour match to your vehicle
  • Architectural — matt and satin finishes are popular for modern projects. Match to the architect's colour specification
  • Flashings & roofing — match to your existing Colorsteel roofing colour for a seamless look
  • Marine — marine-grade powders with enhanced corrosion resistance for boat fittings and marine hardware
