When you submit a form on this site, we may collect:

  • Project details and messages you submit
  • Files or images you upload through the quote or job submission forms

Information Collected Automatically (With Your Consent)

We use a consent manager that lets you choose which tracking technologies are active on this site. No analytics or advertising cookies are loaded until you consent. You can manage your preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings link in our website footer.

Google Analytics 4 (Analytics category)

Collects anonymised usage data — pages visited, session duration, general location (city-level), device and browser type. Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months (the default retention period). See Google's privacy policy.

Microsoft Clarity (Analytics category)

Records anonymised session replays and heatmaps to help us identify usability issues. Microsoft Clarity retains session data for up to 30 days. See Microsoft's privacy statement.

Meta Pixel (Advertising category)

Measures advertising effectiveness on Facebook and Instagram, and enables remarketing to site visitors. See Meta's privacy policy.

Google Tag Manager

Manages the loading of the tools above. Google Tag Manager does not collect personal data itself.

Information Collected Indirectly From Third Parties

This section is provided in preparation for Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP 3A) under the Privacy Amendment Act 2025, effective 1 May 2026.

When you consent to advertising cookies, Meta may associate data about your browsing activity on other websites and your Facebook or Instagram profile with your visit to our site. This means we may indirectly receive aggregated audience data (such as demographic segments or interest categories) derived from information Meta holds about you from sources other than your direct interaction with coatinglab.co.nz.

Similarly, Google Analytics may enrich session data with information from Google's advertising network if you are signed into a Google account.

We use this indirectly collected information only for understanding our website audience and measuring advertising effectiveness. Your rights regarding this indirectly collected information are the same as for directly collected information (see Your Rights below).

How We Receive and Store Form Data

Forms on this site are processed via Netlify Forms. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Netlify's systems. Form submissions are also forwarded to Coating Lab's business email.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to enquiries and quote requests
  • Assess project requirements and prepare quotes
  • Communicate about requested services
  • Understand how visitors use our website (with consent)
  • Measure advertising effectiveness (with consent)
  • Maintain internal business records

We do not sell personal information.

Data Retention

  • Form submission data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected and to meet legal obligations.
  • Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months (the default retention period).
  • Meta Pixel data is retained by Meta in accordance with their data retention policies (typically up to 180 days for website custom audience data).
  • Microsoft Clarity retains session data for up to 30 days.

Sharing Information

We share information only with the service providers listed above (Google, Meta, Microsoft, Netlify) as necessary to operate our website and measure its performance.

We may disclose personal information where required by New Zealand law.

Your Rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you (IPP 6)
  • Request correction of that information (IPP 7)
  • Ask how your personal information is being used
  • Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe your privacy has been breached

Data Breach Notification

If we become aware of a privacy breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as required under Part 6 of the Privacy Act 2020.
